POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN PROTEIN ENGINEERING
and CHEMICAL BIOLOGY
The Laboratory of Biochemistry at the Institut Químic de Sarrià, University Ramon Llull in Barcelona offers a postdoctoral position in Protein engineering and Chemical Biology to work in the framework of several funded projects and collaborations.
Position for two years starting by April-June 2023.
Description
The research at the Laboratory of Biochemistry focuses on Carbohydrate Active Enzymes (glycosidases, glycosyltransferases and esterases) involved in the biosynthesis, modification and degradation of glycans and glycoconjugates, from fundamental aspects of their mechanism, specificity and regulation to their applications in biocatalysis, synthetic biology and as therapeutic targets in infectious diseases. https://planaslab.iqs.edu/
In the framework of several funded projects (Plan Nacional MICINN, NSF-USA, Proof of Concept MICINN), we are looking for a skilled and motivated researcher to develop different projects on directed evolution of enzymes and coordinate international collaborations:
– Development of bio-orthogonal systems for metabolic labeling
– Enzyme engineering for applications in biocatalysis
Applicant’s profile
– PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or alike.
– Experience in protein engineering, mutagenesis and directed evolution of enzymes, HTS assays, knowledge on molecular modeling and bioinformatics
– Communication and team building skills for collaborative work in a research team.
– Fluent in English.
